Ohio District Five Area Aging Advisory Council has a number of duties and responsibilities. Two members to this council are appointed by the Mayor. The council's responsibilities include:
- Serve as a channel for input from older consumers (including low income and minorities), to identify their needs and their views as to solutions.
- Assist in location and development of non-federal resources within the planning area.
- Assist in the system of evaluation within the planning area, in accordance with the evaluation instruments and guidelines developed by the Ohio Department of Aging.
- Advise the staff of the Area Agency on all matters related to the development and administration of the area plan and operations conducted under the Area Plan.
To ensure that this Council represents senior citizens, at least fifty percent of the council's members must be senior consumers. All members serve a three year term.
All members have a responsibility to regularly attend and participate in all meetings.
